    STUDER has been writing grinding history since 1912. STUDER has developed from a small enterprise into an internationally active company with around 800 staff. Fritz Studer AG owes its position in the market to the experience gained from building more than 23,000 systems. Its former pioneering spirit is also reflected in its present-day products, and is impressively demonstrated by the quality and quantity of its innovations.

    • World's first hydraulically controlled cylindrical grinding machine (1936)
    • Hydrodynamic spindle bearings on all machines set all-time record in terms of precision, e.g. on the RHU 450 (1965)

    • Needle grinding with EA300 quick changer (1971)
    • STUDER develops the Granitan S103 mineral-cast machine bed (patented), which now forms the basis of all STUDER cylindrical grinding machines (1976)
    • STUDER develops the world's 1st CNC cylindrical grinding machine (1977)
  • Integration into the Schleifring Group

    • S35 automatic set-up with technology support (1989)
    • STUDER is one of the first machine tool manufacturers to attain the ISO 9001 QA certificate (1990)
    • Machining of HSG ceramic materials (1990)
    • Automatic B-axis with a resolution of 1/10,000° (1993)
    • Integration of Fritz Studer AG into the Schleifring Group (1994)

    • Certification to VDA 6.4 (2002)
    • Launch of the S120 and S151 internal cylindrical grinding machines (2003)
    • STUDER launches the S33 universal cylindrical grinding machine on the market (2003)
  • S41 – The world innovation from STUDER

    • New, standardised corporate design for the entire Schleifring Group (2004)
    • STUDER launches the S12 production grinding machine (2004/2005), the S242 combination machining centre (2005/2006) and the S22 production platform (2008)
    • STUDER and Combitec combine their expertise and create the new centre of excellence for internal grinding in Biel with the CT product line (2008)
    • Launch of the brand new S41 CNC universal cylindrical grinding machine (2011)
  • Anniversary

    • STUDER celebrates its 100th anniversary (2012)
    • STUDER launches the world's smallest production machine, the S11 (2013)
    • KÖRBER SCHLEIFRING and United Grinding Technologies USA become the UNITED GRINDING Group (2013)
    • The UNITED GRINDING Group's new machine design is presented at EMO 2013 in Hannover (2013)
    • The S141 internal cylindrical grinding machine for short and extra-long workpieces is launched on the market (2014)
    • STUDER develops the WireDress® integrated dressing technology for dressing metal-bonded grinding wheels (2014)
